Properties and usage of lavandula essential oil

Properties: Our lavandula has a high linaloolo content. The content in esters makes the essential oil of Lavandula a good antiseptic and disinfectant. It has sedative and antispasmodic properties.

Usage: For external use the essential oil of Lavandula can be used on minor cuts and insect bites. A massage with up to 5% essential oil diluted in almond oil or other vegetable oil would have an antispasmodic and analgesic effect on the muscles (50-100 drops in 100 ml vegetable oil). In aromatherapy it is used for its calming and anti-stress effects: add 8-10 drops to the bath water once the bath is full, then relax in the water. It can be used as an insect repellent and is used for centuries to protect clothes from moths (put a few drops in a cotton ball, put it in a cloth bag and hang it in the closet). On animals, used on ticks and fleas kills them and helps to remove them (but does not kill the eggs). 50 drops added to the laundry detergent helps perfuming clothes while 5 drops in the floor cleaning water will make the house smell of clean. 50 drops added to the detergent in the washing machine will help to perfume the laundry; while with 5 drops into the water to clean the floors the house will smell clean.
